Hydro Aluminum Precision – 460.08 kW – Currently in Production

Rockledge, Florida

Production is underway for a 460.08-kilowatt floating solar project for Hydro Aluminum Precision in Rockledge, Florida, a unique application of floating solar technology on a stormwater retention pond that sits dry for much of the year and fills only during rain events. The system is engineered specifically for this variable water level, floats rest on the basin floor on posts, allowing them to rise and fall freely as water enters and recedes. When the pond is dry, the array simply sits at grade; when rainfall fills the basin, the floats rise with the water, activating buoyant support without any manual adjustment or added infrastructure.

This adaptive design allows Hydro Aluminum Precision to put an otherwise underused stormwater management asset to work generating clean energy, avoiding the need for additional land while still meeting drainage and flood-control requirements. It’s another example of floating solar’s growing role in supporting industrial and manufacturing operations across Florida, helping partners like Hydro Aluminum Precision reduce operating costs, lower their carbon footprint, and advance sustainability goals without sacrificing land needed for operations and growth.
