Bonita Springs Utilities Inc. will install a 1.5-megawatt floating solar array at its East Water Reclamation Facility on Operations Way, off Wellfield Road, after board approval of the project. The system will be placed on an existing pond and is expected to offset about 60% of the facility’s energy use, with peak output reaching up to two-thirds. The project will operate under a net metering agreement with Florida Power & Light. Construction is underway off-site, with installation expected to be completed this fall and the system operational by year’s end. The utility anticipates energy cost savings beginning in 2027.
AccuSolar is proud to have been awarded the Bonita Springs Utilities floating solar project, a testament to our commitment to integrating renewable energy into existing infrastructure. This initiative highlights how floating solar can maximize underutilized space while advancing long-term energy efficiency goals. We are excited to contribute to a project that reflects the expanding role of floating solar in utility-scale energy strategies.
Alternative Energy Services, Inc. a leader in the renewable energy sector will be leading the installation. Project Manager Colton Eigenmann states “AES and AccuSolar are proud to help bring a solution to the table that not only meets today’s energy needs, but positions Bonita Springs Utilities for long-term sustainability and growth.”
